ChicoWiki uses the [WWW]Creative Commons Attribution-By 2.0 for all text, most images, and other content on the web site. We chose this license because davisDavis has had great success with it, and after all, ChicoWiki follows in their footsteps.

Want To Use Content on ChicoWiki?

Every contributor is an editor on ChicoWiki. When they submit content for this website, they automatically give you the right to utilize their content to display, derive, and even make commercial use of the work. However, you must attribute the collective by linking directly to the source page on chicowiki.org.

There may be a time when images are used on ChicoWiki that have stricter copyrights. This will only be the case if permission is granted by the copyright holder to publish on ChicoWiki. If such an image exists, it will have a copyright nearby. An example could be: "Copyright The Orion". Images that have permission to be on chicowiki.org likely do not have any permission to exist elsewhere without further permission.

ChicoWiki makes no warranty about information or claims. However, we do try to make sure that content is accurate and up-to-date. Nevertheless, we are indemnified from any damage due to the nature and content of this website.

Want To Put Content on ChicoWiki?

Anyone can contribute! However, when you write content for ChicoWiki, it becomes fair-game for anyone to do as they please with it so long as they attribute to you or chicowiki.org. However, in general, it is not easy to differentiate content written by specific editors thus linking directly to chicowiki.org is preferred.

However, you cannot put copyright content into the ChicoWiki unless you receive explicit permission from the copyright holder and retain the appropriate copyright attribution (such as, "Copyright The Chico News & Review"). This goes for images and text! Such contributions do not fall under the Creative Commons By-Attribution license. Furthermore, although it is highly discouraged to use text that is not your own, you must cite all sources such as quotes from articles, web pages, or even books.

If you post a picture and would like to retain full control of its use, you do retain copyrights for that image since it is under Creative Commons By-Attribution. You may, however, give yourself credit by including in the caption, "Image by Some Person."

ChicoWiki will never host advertisements thus your content on ChicoWiki.org will not profit anyone. However, this can only happen by supporting wikispotWikiSpot with your gracious wikispotdonations. Feel free to truly free your Chicoan knowledge!
