I'm really happy to hear about some flyering action going on. Thank you! I've a few at Butte College right now and they're almost out of tear-offs. I agree that the flyers could use some improvement. While I'm not native to Chico, and not even close to a ["Chicoan"], it is my understanding that Chicoans refer to CSU Chico as simply Chico State -- so I'm trying to reflect what the larger community would expect. This is similar to the fact that Chicoans never say "Butte Community College" but simply "Butte College." Furthermore, using Chico State * is good for Google searches as it is far more descriptive than just University *. These days, websites live and die by Google. Especially when there is no large effort within the community to make a wiki a success (to my knowledge only 3 people ever flyer about the wiki so it needs all the attention it can get from Google). Using parenthesis is just confusing and likely wouldn't have the same impact. We've tried that before in order to differentiate between ["Butte College"] and ["Chico State"]. It is just that the daytime shot is very small so no details can be made of it. I'm not sure how useful that would be to look at. If you are using a regular digital camera, you can just resize the photo to, say, 65 or 75% of their original size and save the photo as a JPEG with a 75% compression ratio so that it is a relatively small file size. Obviously I wasn't there last night, so I just started a page where I welcome people to put up their experiences about what happened last night (that seems the best way to get the full story). Ryan put up a wanted link, I figured it was good to start the page so that someone else didn't have to. Since people will be talking about it, regardless of why it started, I feel it has a place on the wiki and I just went with the name that was on the wanted link that I found. I have no problem with the renaming of it, and I certainly didn't mean for it to sound anti-student. I am a young person and a student (have been at a couple of different universities at various times) and I know what it's like to be judged based solely on the fact that I am young and in a college. I purposely put language like "what has been described as" and "It is reported that" because I know that the media can be biased. And after what happened in the 80's, I am fairly certain there are a lot of people who would see a big gathering as something more than it might actually be. That said, there are certainly user-posted videos on YouTube of people hanging out around stuff that is lit on fire, so I would hardly say everyone was on their best behavior last night. I really didn't mean to offend or sound like I had taken a side about it, since I wasn't there and only have read the news articles and seen the YouTube postings. --["Users/StaceyEllis"]

I tend to be of the mindset that the map is for places that are still in existence and can be visited or at least seen by people in Chico. Having the former address (without the macro) and/or a brief description of where it was alongside the picture, in my opinion, is enough to give someone the idea. The map is already so full of places and things that are currently in Chico (especially the downtown) that when adding in all the historical things that aren't here anymore could serve to make it so full of pins and difficult to navigate. There are so many potential historical places in Chico that could have pages made about them that I worry it will make the map less useful for someone who is looking for something in the area. I'll start a talk page off of ["departed businesses"] to discuss this further and see if anyone else has opinions. Thanks for checking in about it. I am exactly on the same page with you on categories. I am reluctant to move forward with them, but I think something should be done.
